St. Amenaprkich Ghazanchetsots Armenian Apostolic church is one of the symbols of Artsakh. It was built between 1868-1887 in Shushi. The church is located in the central part of Shushi, it’s structure is similar to a basilica church.
It is said, the construction began in 1868 and was completed in 1887, and on September 20, in 1888, Catholicos Makar I consecrated the church.
During first Artsakh war, the church was used as a missile depot for the Azerbaijani armed forces until the liberation from the Armenian forces, after which the broken dome was restored in 1998.
