Dadivank, also known as Arakelots, is an Armenian apostolic medieval monastic complex in Dadivank village of Artsakh. Dadi monastery was first mentioned in the 9th century. The first structures of the monastery complex were built between 9th and 13th centuries.
According to the tradition, the church was founded by Dade, who was a follower of Thaddeus – one of Christ’s apostles. During the excavations, the relics of the holy apostle Dade were found under the altar of the monastery complex.
The central structure of Dadivank is St. Astvatsatsin, it was built in 1234 by Haterk princess Arzu-Khatun in memory of her husband Vakhtang and theirs two sons.
