#Erebuni fortress is an archeological monument located in the capital of Armenia, #Yerevan, on Arin Berd hill and the Erebuni Historical-Archaeological Reserve-Museum is one of the important centers of urartian studies in our region.
The remains of the fortress city of Erebuni are preserved here. It was built in BC. 782 by #Argishti I, one of the most powerful kings of the urartian empire, who, according to the Khorkhorian Protocol, resettled 6600 soldiers here. The first excavations were carried in 1879. The first cuneiform was discovered from the hill. Regular excavations of Erebuni fortress began in 1950. The cuneiform inscription found in the very first year shows that this fortress was built by king Argishti I in the fifth year of his reign BC. In 782, it was renamed Erebuni (Erbuni).
