One day Mkhitar had a dream. In his dream God told him: “Mkhitar, there will be an abundance of bread for seven years, and then dry land for another seven years. Gather supplies in times of abundance, so that the people do not suffer in times of famine.” Gosh built big barns, bought wheat and filled them. When people were hungry, he built a gush (wooden round bowl) and distributed wheat to people. After that, his name remainsed Gosh Mkhitar. After Mkhitar’s death, the village was named after him Gosh or Gosh village, and the monastery was called Goshavank.
