Hayravank monastery is in Hayravank or Ayrivan village of Gegharkunik province of RA.
Hayravank’s St. Stepanos church was built in the 9th century, it is made of basalt, and the dome is made of tuff. In 1211, the brothers Hovhannes and Nerses renovated the church and built a vestibule. There are tombstones and khachkars from the 16th century in the yard of Hayravank. From the monastery complex you can see a wonderful view of Lake Sevan and its surroundings.
According to the tradition, in 1381, during Lenktemur campaign, the abbot of Hayravank -Hovhan, transformed thousands of armenians Hovhan prayed for the peaceful people. With the power of the Christian relic – the part of Lord’s Cross people turned into pigeons, flew away from the monastery and survived.
