
St. Hripsime is an armenian famous church located in Etchmiadzin. In 618, Catholicos Komitas built the St. Hripsime church from tuff in honor of the martyred Hripsime, her grave is under the altar of the church. The monument was listed as a UNESCO world heritage site.
According to the tradition, Hripsime along with the Christian virgins, avoiding the persecutions of the Roman emperor Diocletian, not wanting to become the emperor’s wife, fled to Armenia and preached Christianity.
They were persecuted, tortured, and eventually killed by king Tridates III Great.
